Case Type: Vehicle Frame Failure

Description:
A case involving the severe failure of a vehicle frame during a head-on collision. The collapse of the front end of the vehicle caused intrusion into the passenger compartment.

Visualizations Produced:
Using Digital Photogrammetry, hand measurements and photography, both an exemplar vehicle and the accident vehicle were constructed in 3D. By obtaining the structural drawings of the vehicle's frame, as well as the accident vehicle frame, the failure was apparent, allowing animations to be created showing the failure.
