File 2005.12: Teat v. BNSF

Case Type: Railroad Crossing Accident

Description:
A collision of a BNSF locomotive and the driver of a Sebring Convertible. The plaintiff argued this intersection was dangerous because it had no lights or crossing guards. However, the defense maintained that the driver traveled that road regularly and was aware of the crossing. There were no obstructions of the driver's view and had he looked to his right at any time, he would have seen the locomotive.

Phase 1, Pre-Visualization, Measurement and Discovery:
Fearless Eye traveled to the site of the accident, conducted measurements and gathered photos and video footage of the site. The video footage was then Match Moved using photogrammetry and vehicle models were placed into the video.

Phase 2, Pre-Visualizations Produced:
Once the 3D models of the locomotive and the vehicle were placed into the video footage, it was clear that the driver had a clear view of the tracks.
