File 2007.05: PA Dept. of Transportation v. U.S. Mineral
Case Type: Environmental
Description:
A fire broke out on the 6th floor of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation building destroying 3 floors. During clean-up, Asbestos PCB particles were found covering every surface of the building. The defense claimed that the fire had spread the PCBs throughout the building, but seeing as there are 2 HVAC systems in the building, the PCBs would have had to already be present for it to have reached parts of the facility on a different HVAC system.
Visualizations Produced:
Fearless Eye modeled the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Building using photogrammetry, then zoomed in to an illustration of the 6th floor showing PCB particles in the light ballasts and HVAC system. The fire starts and arrows representing PCB flow through the HVAC system that services floors 6 - 15. The entire building is then shown with PCB particles covering every surface of the building, even those not affected by the fire.
