Case Type: Railroad Yard Collision
Description:
A case at a busy train yard involving a collision between a BNSF and a UP Engine. The engineer for the UP engine claimed he was injured in the 5 mph collision. The BNSF engineer passed the foul switch area but had not received permission from the tower controller. The UP engine assumed the right-of-way and collided with the BNSF engine causing the UP engine to derail its front wheels.
Visualizations Produced:
Fearless Eye produced a series of animations showing the train yard layout, locations of key structures such as the tower, switches, tracks, cars and engines, as well as animations showing the collision and the exact location in relation to the switch and foul area.
