File 2004.12: Neher v. BNSF
Case Type: Railroad
Description:
An access road near a set of railroad tracks obscured the truck driver's view of the tracks, causing him to proceed without knowing a train was coming.
Visualizations Produced:
Fearless Eye recreated the scene of the accident in 3D using photos and aerial data. A train model was then placed on the tracks traveling at its calculated speed. A semi-truck was placed on the access road and visualizations were produced illustrating that the driver was unable to see the approaching train from the access road. However, if he had been using the other road available to him, his view would not have been obstructed.
