Case Type: Vehicle Hits Bus in Intersection
Description:
A school bus driver stopped at a stop sign thought she had ample time to cross and intersection, but pulled out in front a car. The car struck the bus on the rear driver's side, killing the driver.
Phase 1, Pre- Visualization, Measurement and Discovery:
Fearless Eye visited the site of the accident, conducted measurements and gathered video data of the bus driver's view of the intersection, as well as the car's view. The video footage was then Match Moved using photogrammetry and vehicle models were placed into the video.
Phase 2, Visualizations Produced:
Once the 3D models were placed into the video footage, it was clear that the bus driver could see the approaching car and simply misjudged it's speed.
