Case Type: Railroad Crossing Accident - Line of Sight Issue
Description:
A truck traveling on a county road came upon a set of double track train tracks. A stationary train was parked on the tracks closest to the vehicle block his view of the second set of tracks. The driver slowly proceeded across the tracks but was hit on the rear passenger side by a second train.
Phase 1, Pre-Visualization, Measurement and Discovery: Fearless Eye traveled to the site of the accident, conducted measurements and gathered photos and video footage of the site. The video footage was then MatchMoved using photogrammetry and vehicle models were placed into the video.
Phase 2, Pre-Visualizations Produced:
Once the 3D models of the locomotive and the vehicle were placed into the video footage, it was clear that the driver could not see beyond the parked train to see if another train was approaching.
