File 2005.14: Brown v. Vetter
Case Type: Truck Collides with Motorcycle
Description:
A pickup truck traveling above the speed limit, entered an unmarked intersection and struck a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the cycle into a yard and the cycle slid down the road. The truck continued on until it ran into a tree just up the street.
Phase 1, Pre- Visualization, Measurement and Discovery:
After visiting the site of the accident, conducting measurements and gathering video data of both the truck driver's and motorcycles view of the intersection, the video footage was MatchMoved using photogrammetry and vehicle models were placed into the video.
Phase 2, Visualizations Produced:
Once the 3D models were placed into the video footage, it was clear that the truck could not see the motorcycle because it was moving too fast.
